Deep Foundation Design and Testing
GTR specializes in a broad range of deep foundation testing services to our general contractor, subcontractor, architect, engineer and public and private agency client base. Our 24 hour, 7 days a week approach to our testing and design services provides timely results, allowing the contractor to proceed without delay to the project schedule. GTR personnel are certified and have highly specialized training to perform various types of Non-Destructive Testing for all types of deep foundations and concrete structures in accordance with the applicable ASTM Standards including Static and Dynamic Pile Testing, Low Strain Integrity Testing, Cross-hole Sonic Logging and Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP).
GTR also provides deep foundation design for all foundation types, including driven piles, drilled shafts, micropiles, helical piles, and augercast piles. We have been involved in design-build projects where we were able to provide value engineering and redesigns to take advantage of innovative foundation types, such as Spin FinTM and TapertubeTM piles. These innovative redesigned foundations on multiple projects saved the client/Owner significant costs and were able to accelerate their construction schedule.
GTR provides a significant benefit to the client through our extensive experience and engineering expertise related to the evaluation, interpretation, and proper implementation of test results to incorporate into our designs. GTR personnel have performed the original research and have written the specifications for Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) for Deep Foundations, which is based on thousands of deep foundation testing results from around the country. This resulting NCHRP Report 507 serves as the backbone for the current deep foundation LRFD AASHTO codes.
