The Design/Build Contractor, Skanska-Trevcon JV, retained GTR to provide driven Spin Fin dolphin foundation design and permanent bulkhead design services for this massive waterfront expansion. Our services included cost-saving re-design of permanent marine dolphin foundation systems. GTR employed a Spin-Fin design concept replacing battered drilled shafts. Spin Fins were successfully installed to significantly shallower depths demonstrating cost and schedule savings.
GTR also performed Kingpile Bulkhead re-design services to optimized the king pile wall using drilled micropiles. Additional services included performing Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL), Cross-Hole Tomography (CT) and prepared drilled shaft remediation designs for drilled shafts indicating low quality concrete.
